Design Notes: Language Help |
Design Note - Language Capability The common method of distributing software in another language is to hire an interpreter to write an entirely new specific language version. This approach would not provide the flexibility desired for mineConveyor technical software. Even here in North America the English of different localities varies with regard to materials handling terminology. What was desired was the capability to change the terminology, such as the default "pulley" to "drum" as in the UK or to print the results of a project calculation in another language. What we have done with all of the offered software is to incorporate user translation of nearly all visible language (with the exception of help files). The program assumes you will do this and allows you to switch dialects at any time. You can create a new dialect with a few changes or a complete rewrite. Any single byte language can be used. The best way to
translate is within the program itself. I have tried online translation
with poor results due to the technical terminology. If you have any
problems with the translation facility let me know.
