For conveyor design, precision spreads the load.

Changing a return belt direction by 8 x 1.5 / PI / 100 * 360 = 13.75 degrees using 7 inch idlers spaced 1.5 feet. Each idler shares the tension load.

The idlers are to be mounted on structural steel sloped at -0.2 (hence the construction line slope of 5) using shims to attain the placement shown below.

You have pre-calculated that your selected idlers can carry the belt tension load when spaced at 1.72 degrees.

Entering the idler diameter as 7/12 results in the long decimal. (Dimensions are in feet for this example.)

Two circles are shown. A scroll bar gets the rest. Clicking the icons at the top prints the results or creates a file that can be opened in your spreadsheet for further calculations (concerning the supporting steel, for instance).
